The Wedmore is my solid black walnut desk, handcrafted from premium American black walnut and built to order in my Somerset workshop. It has the same clean, contemporary lines as the Bruton, with the warmth and depth that only real hardwood gives you.
American black walnut is prized for its rich, dark chocolate-brown colour and striking natural grain, so no two desktops are identical. I finish it with Osmo Polyx-Oil, which protects the surface while letting the character of the wood come through. Paired with your choice of steel leg style, it works equally well in a dedicated home office or a living space that doubles as a workspace.
Available in widths from 100cm to 200cm and depths from 50cm to 80cm, with four leg styles to suit your space. Standard thickness is 32mm. I can also make it 40mm thick, or build it to a custom size that isn't listed. Get in touch for a quote.
Want the desktop on its own? Choose the "Desktop no legs" option to buy just the solid walnut top, supplied with no legs, screws or fittings. Ideal if you already have a sit-stand frame, trestles or your own legs.
A note on pricing: the "from" price shown is for the smallest desktop on its own. A complete desk with legs starts at £745.
Also available: the Somerton desk with an integrated monitor shelf, if you want a built-in screen riser with the same handcrafted quality.

Leg height is 71cm, and the 32mm top adds its own thickness on top, so the total height is 74.2cm. If you order a 40mm top, it comes to 75cm.

Every piece is made to your measurements, so I can't accept a return because you've changed your mind. Please check your sizes before ordering, and email me first if you're unsure.
If your order arrives damaged, faulty or not what you ordered, email adrian@thesomersetworkshop.com straight away and I'll put it right with a repair, replacement or refund. Your statutory rights are not affected.

When cleaning your furniture use a clean, dry, non-abrasive cloth. For this product we recommend Osmo Spray Cleaner.
Solid wood is a natural living, breathing material that ages over time. It has characteristics that include cracks in the wood, knots, mineral deposits, inclusions, as well as grain and pigment variations (sometimes wood filler is required) some natural movement is to be expected. However, these things do not interfere with the structural integrity.
